New Low Cost Scanner to be shown at BETT
|
Trax UK Ltd., the Kent based company specialising in high speed Windows based data capture software, has announced the launch of a new low cost optical mark reading scanner for use in education at all levels. Primarily aimed at the testing and evaluation sectors of the market, the Advantage 1200 scanner is manufactured by Apperson Education Products in the USA, a family-owned company with many years of experience in the printing and production of OMR forms.
With a convenient table top design that weighs only 3 pounds, the Advantage 1200 can scan at up to rates of 35 sheets per minute. A full 10 digit ID field capture capability is included as well as the ability to score up to 100 questions per paper side. A range of low cost pre-printed forms are also available for assessments, evaluations, examinations and surveys with Multiple Choice, True/False or Yes/No answer formats included. The machine is attractively packaged in a colour coded case with clear alphanumeric messages displayed in the LCD panel for easy operation as well as simple, self diagnostic features for hassle-free operation.
A further feature is the built in printer which allows users to print the results of a test on each form scanned thereby giving instant feedback and marking facilities for teachers and lecturers alike. All this plus the added advantage of not even having to have the system connected to a computer thus making it, with its very small footprint, size and weight, unique in its ability as a stand alone test scoring system.
Colin Woolhouse of Trax commented “By combining our own software expertise in the field of testing and examinations along with those of Apperson in the field of low cost test scanners and pre-printed forms we forsee a cost effective and affordable solution for schools, colleges and other educational bodies who wish to undertake continual monitoring of student performance and attainment”. Initial price indications for the scanner in a stand-alone mode is under £700.00 but with the full analytical software (based on the Trax MultiTest module including analysis and reporting facilities) plus a supply of forms should make the system available for under £1,000 which means that it is both cost effective and affordable.
As well as the Trax MultiTest module being shown with the Advantage 1200 the QuestionBank option will also be on view. Both these options offer users the ability to deliver tests and analyze results quickly and easily with the continuing theme of an integrated package that allows users to read Optical Mark Reader data entry forms or utilise the Intranet/Internet to collect and process information from surveys, assessments or multiple choice questionnaires.
